Thanks all you guys for a great year!

This is the last post of the year, and what a year, i must say!!! Danny would like to thank everyone that have been following this blog, and everyone that he meet along the way in this great year, IT´S BEEN REAL!! 2008 was amazing, so many trips, new places, new friends, so many good and also a few bad moments, but in the end it´s all worthed!
Danny is gonna keep this going for 2009 with a lot of surprises, but now it´s time for some holidays in Brasil! Again, thanks and keep looking forward for the upcoming BLIND video and for this new video from FTS productions called "a place for everybody" because Danny is gonna have a full part in this one too!!! Here´s the trailer:

Merry christmas to everyone! ! Danny still in Brasil, the results for the contest I told you guys in the last post were great, Danny got 2nd place, the contest was way different, every skater had 3 hours a day for 3 days to film a video part in a plaza in Brasil, the best part wins!! Nice isn´t it? Well the DVD with all the footy will come in the next issue of a brazilian skatemag called 100%skate and it will be posted here as soon as it comes out!!!!

For now i have a little gift for all you guys, a small commercial that bones wheels put out in their website with Danny and his brazilian team-mate Felipe Gustavo. ENJOY!!!

Long time no talk, but I got news, Danny is back in Brazil after a month in the States filming his last tricks for the upcoming blind video, he came back for a real street contest (invitational only), it means street spots!!! Pictures from the contest are coming sooooon!

Well the good news is that while Danny was in Cali, he stopped by the SILVER skate park, for a killer session, 38 tricks in 1 afternoon?!?!?! Life is a bless, thanks for the good times Wastell!!!!

I know it´s been a couple of weeks, but just today i got an email from Danny talking about his good friend Van Wastell. Everybody knows it´s a tragedy when a young soul dies, but death it´s the only thing that we know for sure in this life, so let´s live as fast as we can and carry the spirit of those who are gone in our hearts! Guys like Wastell, Cross, Romano... only brought joy to this world... So instead of being sad about them, let´s live to celebrate the good things that they brought to our lives!!!

Rest in peace bro, cause you´ll be forever in our thoughts!

Danny Cerezini SKT Magazine interview. English version!!!

1- You became professional in Brazil at age 16, but only now with 21 you became professional for the rest of the World, how was this meantime?

It was good, but long. Since i became professional in Brazil earlier, i had enough time to acquire responsability and experience as an ameteur in America. This helped me a lot because i was traveling the whole world with other pros, touring, filming, learning. Because of things like that i could become a professional ready to all the responsabilities that im gonna have to handle, since now the skate is not only fun, it´s also my job, and you gotta learn how not to mix these things such as contests, tours, photo sessions, parties and all other kinds of fun. Im glad i waited this time, because only now i feel ready to face the whole world as a professional and not only Brazil.

2- 2-So the time you spent as a pro and Brazil was like a school before you become pro for the rest of the world?

I think so, because i had a chance to be with guys that were pros for a long time in Brazil, and i learned a lot with them. This time gave me an advantge to turn pro, since in America people are turning pro sooner and sooner, and sometimes they are not even ready for all the responsabilities.

3- 3-How come you conciliate 2 diferent careers, one as Pro in Brazil and the other one as Amateur in America?

To be honest it wasn´t that hard, because i was spending more time in the states back then, I was going to Brazil more for the professional contests, since i was really focus on filming and doing everything necessary to make it happen in America.

4- 4-So you became pro in Brazil more because you were kind famous there and because of your level at skating than for the work you were doing in your own country?

To be honest the idea of turning pro came from a sponsor i had back in the day in Brazil, and i tought it was cool because I was na amateur for a long time in Brazil, so i decided to step it up in my country.

5- 5-So nowdays, how do you feel being a pro in Brazil with american sponsors only?

It feels normal, because i have more support to go out and skate, the skate industry in Brazil is not that good at supporting the skaters. So having this sponsors and still be able to go skate in Brazil is amazing! The difference is that now i have to work my name all around the world and not only one country. But since the skate is growing everyday, the american brands are making their moves into the brazilian market, and it´s good cause i can help both, my country and my sponsors.

6- 6-Was it hard for you being na amateur in America for 5 years since you knew you were good as a pro?

Not really, because like i told before, i wasn´t ready for becoming a pro at the whole world at age 16. Time is the king. If you go pro at age 16 in America, you are not gonna enjoy your life because of all your responsabilities. At 16 you still a kid, you still don´t know how the industry works, how the behave yourself in some situations, so i think traveling and having fun during this time were essentials, i had a chance to learn new cultures, meet new people, get to know myself better. This time was important to grow up as a person and as a skater.

7- 7-For this interview you traveled around Dennamark, Poland, Lithuania, and some other countries not as famous as Spain when people go out to skate in Europe, how was that?

I was only trying to explore different places, different cultures, places i only knew from books and history classes in school. I was trying to show everyone until where a skater can go by himself these days, since me and my friends organized the whole trip, no demos, no nothing, just pure skating.

8- 8-So this trip was different because it was done by you and your friends, with no pressure, how does that helped for this interview and for filming the blind video?

It was something natural, because i was having fun with my friends and doing what I love, so the result was something 100% authentic. Was good to break the routine of tours with demos, signings, and do everything with no pressure, just pure love!

9- 9-The fact that you were born and raised in Brazil helps you to adapt into a new place and culture?

Definitly yes, the brazilians are really friendly, which is essential when it comes to make new friends, since the best way to learn a new culture is hanging out with the locals, see their lifes, and pick the good things out of it to apply in my own life!

10 10-When was the time that you realized that all the trips you have done because of skateboarding had such a huge impact in your life as a person and as a skateboarder?

I think i still haven´t realized everything that is happening to me because of skateboarding. And i hope not to realize anytime soon, because i want more! Because the more knowledge and culture the better! I don´t want my evolotuion to have a limit. I wanna be free to do what i love and keep my mind open to everything at all times.

11- 11-In Denmark you won your first pro contest. How are gonna face the contests from now on??

I always liked contests, but lately cause of all the tours, filming, photos, I had no time to enter one, i had the focus on turning pro not because of winning contests. But after this contest in Denmark I kinda got excited again and i´ll try go to a few more contests, not for win, but just to have a good time, to be with my friends that i don´t have the chance to hang out and skate everyday with. It´s not that im gonna practice for a constest, if i´m having a good time i´ll skate good for sure, and if I can make some money out of it, even better!

12 12-Do you have plans to move back to Brazil now? Or do you wanna keep skating in America?

I wanna skate in the whole world, I wanna be everywhere skateboarding is! Maybe one day im gonna be able to stay more in Brazil with my family and friends and keep my american sponsors, but only time will tell what´s gonna happen, today i know that i need to be close to my sponsors. If i could do everything from Brazil that would be a dream, but right now it´s time to make things happen, so i´ll be pacient...

13 13-You didn´t skiped any steps into your professional carrer from am contests, interviews to video parts you have done it all, so do you see yourself as rolemodel for the kids who dream to be a world famous professional skateboarder?

I think so, cause i did everything in it´s time, you can´t skip the steps that are gonna lead you somewhere, It´s no easy to be next big young name in skateboarding. But i have choosed to go little by little, to build my way and to let my skate speaks by itself. Everything is up to you, but my advice is that you have to be pacient and do the things step by step.

So... Okay now it´s offical the next post will be the interview, i just need some time to organize all the pictures. For now, Danny still in Brasil, relaxing traveling, partying... Living the good life we all know!!! He´s also getting some physical therapy sessions to recover his body from all the hard work... No big deal, but you know kids, it´s better be safe than sorry!! He´ll be back to Cali in the beginning of october.

Danilo Cerezini em quatro semanas pela Europa!

Muita gente se lembra do menino prodígio do skate, que, no passado, saiu do interior do Paraná com o irmão para ajudar a elevar o nível do esporte no Brasil no começo desta década. De lá para cá muita coisa mudou, o menino cresceu e hoje é considerado um dos grandes nomes do cenário do skate mundial. Já teve participações memoráveis em vídeos clássicos, ganhou inúmeros campeonatos e viajou por boa parte do globo vivendo o sonho de andar de skate em picos de diversos países. Essas viagens lhe trouxeram grande experiência, cultura, respeito e, pela humildade, elementos suficientes para lhe garantir toda a bagagem necessária para se tornar um profissional de reconhecimento no skate mundial. Isso é apenas o começo de uma longa viagem.

Dinamarca

Planejada em poucas semanas, a viagem teve como ponto de partida a cidade de Copenhague, na Dinamarca. A equipe formada para a missão consistia de: Danilo Cerezini, o fotógrafo Pablo Vaz, o videomaker Thomas Winkle e eu, Felipe Ventura. Chegamos todos no mesmo dia, vindos de diferentes partes do mundo e, após longas horas de viagem, fomos atrás de um lugar para relaxar. O Danilo sugeriu irmos para um lugar chamado Christiania, uma comunidade alternativa bem no centro da capital dinamarquesa. Nada como estar com os amigos e observar novas culturas. “É bom ver um lugar onde o respeito é 100% mútuo, isso te faz pensar”, relata Danilo. Auto-sustentável, a comunidade tem como principal esporte o skate: “Acho que isso acontece por sermos os mais livres dos desportistas e os mais capazes de lidar com os diferentes tipos de situação, cultura e sempre fazendo isso da maneira mais humilde possível”, filosofa Cerezini.

A Dinamarca é o perfeito exemplo de como um país pode dar plena liberdade aos cidadãos quando eles sabem como não abusar do mesmo e, principalmente, quando eles sabem respeitar o próximo. “Esse choque cultural positivo foi um ótimo começo de viagem.” Não bastassem essas qualidades, adicione a tudo isso a um evento muito bem organizado, com ótima estrutura, com amigos se divertindo e muito bom humor. Dessa forma, fica fácil entender como Danilo conseguiu ser 100% autêntico e andar de skate da forma mais relax durante todo o fim de semana, para assim ganhar praticamente tudo no campeonato: “Todo esse clima de descontração foi uma grande influência para que eu me saísse bem no campeonato e tivesse um fim de semana épico, tanto andando de skate na pista ou saindo de balada. Fiz tudo, divertindo-me com meus amigos”.

República Checa

Em nome de todos os skatistas que já estiveram em Praga, posso dizer que sete dias nunca é o bastante por lá. A cultura desse país, que um dia não foi livre sequer para pensar, é vasta, e parece que mesmo 18 anos após a queda do comunismo, as pessoas ainda estão empolgadas com a liberdade obtida e pelo visto o Danilo também: “Esse foi meu terceiro ano em Praga, e parece que a cada vez eu me sinto mais em casa”. É fácil entender por que o Danilo se sentiu assim, já que as pessoas por lá parecem apreciar mais seu skate e personalidade a cada ano que passa. Suas linhas na famosa praça Stalin fazem todos parar para observar o estilo quase impecável de andar no carrinho. “ Por essas viagens pude ver o crescimento do skate de uma maneira diferenciada. É bom voltar a um lugar ond já estive antes, como Praga, e ver que as coisas melhoraram e que talvez eu tenha ajudado nesse crescimento”, comenta.

O Danilo é um cara que consegue inspiração para andar de skate de coisas que nenhuma outra pessoa imaginaria. Por exemplo: sua cabeça funciona muito melhor para andar após uma tarde nadando com os amigos num lugar perdido no interior da República Checa, do que se ele estivesse praticando na pista do campeonato ou na rua o dia inteiro. Sua inspiração depende quase exclusivamente do quanto ele está se divertindo. É raro encontrar alguém que consiga andar melhor de skate depois de uma boa balada com os amigos do que após uma boa noite de sono.

Polônia

Talvez esse tenha sido um dos países que mais sofreram com o comunismo e com a Segunda Guerra Mundial. “Acho que todo esse sofrimento acabou por tornar as pessoas um pouco amargas ao primeiro contato”, afirma Danilo. Mas não há nada que sua vibe positiva em cima do skate não ajude. Sendo assim as coisas ficaram muito mais fáceis para nós e até as pessoas acabaram mais amistosas: “O fato de ser brasileiro ajuda muito na hora de me socializar com pessoas de outros países”. A Polônia é um país difícil de se situar por toda a história de sofrimento por que o paísl passou. É preciso ter uma cabeça aberta para entender certas coisas que aconteceram por lá. “Eu ainda não me dei conta de tudo o que está acontecendo comigo por causa do skate. E nem espero dar conta tão cedo, pois adquirir conhecimento e cultura nunca é demais. Não quero que minha evolução tenha limites. Quero ser livre pra fazer o que amo e estar com a cabeça aberta pra entender o mundo!”, completa Cerezini.

Talvez não sejam muitos os profissionais que prefiram andar ao lado de garotos locais numa quadra com obstáculos construídos por eles a sair à procura de picos inéditos para missões solitárias. E com esse tipo de atitude se percebe por que o Danilo conquista novos fãs por onde quer que passe. “Acho que a melhor maneira de aprender uma cultura ou se sentir bem em um lugar que nunca estive antes é conviver com os locais, podendo ver as coisas pelo ponto de vista deles, colher as experiências positivas que eles têm a oferecer e aplicar isso em minha vida.”

Lituânia

Provavelmente, vai ter muita gente se perguntando onde é que fica esse país e como a gente acabou indo parar lá. Bem, é simples. A eterna busca por lugares novos para andar de skate nos guiou até a Lituânia.

“Graças ao skate, posso conhecer lugares de que eu só ouvia falar na escola e onde eu nunca imaginei estar, ainda mais fazendo aquilo que amo!”

O país fica no Leste Europeu e também foi dominado pelo comunismo, mas, ao contrário da Polônia, tem um povo muito amistoso. Podemos falar pelos jovens, pois os mais velhos talvez por não entenderem bem o que é o skate, acabaram deixando a polícia local em estado de alerta sobre nossa presença. Até o ano passado, o ex-prefeito da capital Vilnius fazia vista grossa para a prática do esporte, mas o atual prefeito já é mais linha dura. Dizem que é um velho comunista. Ou seja, o skate acabou por ser marginalizado nas ruas da cidade. Normal, mas na visão do Danilo, para quem logo mais até os países pequenos como a Lituânia irão se render à nossa cultura: “O skate é um esporte que está aí no mundo, crescendo cada vez mais e tem que ser respeitado. Se cada um fizer sua parte, vamos conseguir mostrar o que realmente é o nosso estilo de vida e, aí, nada vai nos fazer parar. O que não pode é ter gente querendo vender nossa cultura somente em nome do dinheiro”.

A maior surpresa dessa parte da viagem foi encontrar alguns skatistas à espera da nossa tour. Eles ficaram sabendo da nossa passagem por lá no blog da viagem, e acabaram por nos encontrar na praça principal da cidade, logo depois dos nossos problemas com a polícia local. Ao deparar com os skatistas, Danilo comentou: “Nesses países onde o skate ainda é um esporte pequeno, a galera acaba dando muito mais valor para um skatista estrangeiro. É legal ver essa empolgação, conversar com a galera, sentir que estou levando uma inspiração para eles continuarem andando de skate”. Com a sorte a nosso favor, os locais acabaram por nos mostrar um pico incrível, e para agradecer, o Danilo gravou seu nome na borda de mármore, no que mais parecia uma pequena demo, tamanha a empolgação e a curiosidade dos locais. A essa altura já não é mais necessário dizer que o clima cordial da cidade combinado com as lindas garotas locais e os picos incríveis deixaram o Danilo mais do que inspirado.

Alemanha

Tenho de admitir que a essa altura da viagem, já estávamos um pouco cansados, porém ao chegarmos a um pico secreto e perfeito na cidade de Frankfurt, pude sentir o quanto o Danilo se dedica a fazer aquilo de que gosta. Horas e horas andando sem parar mesmo após três semanas de puro skate não é para qualquer um. “A melhor parte dessas viagens é estar colhendo os frutos da minha dedicação como skatista”, afirma o inspirado e incansável Cerezini.

Na Alemanha, as coisas fluíram de uma forma mais suave, sendo assim, conseguimos relaxar e fazer um balanço sobre toda a viagem. A Europa é um continente de muitos contrastes, e nesse mês viajando, o Danilo conseguiu se adaptar muito bem a todos os lugares pelos quais passamos. “Vejo o mundo de forma diferente por causa do skate. Não encaro como um turista qualquer, pois estando em um país para andar de skate, eu me sinto mais perto do que realmente o lugar é, e não apenas o que ele aparenta ser.”

Ao final de tudo, dá para afirmar que viajar com o Danilo é algo fácil, pelo simples fato de ele ser um skatista como você ou eu, sem frescuras, sem complicações, colocando os amigos, o skate e a diversão em primeiro lugar. Um cara autêntico no que faz e que sempre respeita tudo ao seu redor. “Essa viagem foi diferente por ter sido feita apenas entre amigos, para mostrar para a galera até aonde um skatista pode chegar, já que foi a gente mesmo que organizou tudo. Foi ótimo poder quebrar a rotina das tours com demos, sessões de autógrafos e fazer as coisas sem pressão, por puro amor.”

Ao ler essa declaração, é bom ver como esse jovem skatista representa orgulhosamente o Brasil por onde quer que passe, seja por suas idéias ou por seu skate.

Some news...

Sorry guys, long time, no update, but it´s because Danny is kind busy back in Cali, he´s moving from the house he used to lived with Tx, Lima and Peterson, and after this he´s going straight to Brasillllll! Not much skating going on, after all we deserve some time off... But as soon as I get more pics and as soon as Winkle finish editing some clips, I´ll be posting!! In meantime i´m translating Danny´s brazilian interview for the blog, it´s gonna take a couple of days, but it will be here soon.

So this is it, the Euro tour is over for Danny! It´s been 2 months and we´ve done a loooooot of things... Danny is now going back to LA and by the 3rd of september he´s going to Brasil for a few days. The blog will go on, so make sure you stop by here once in a while.... We still have a few more videos to release in youtube in the next days!!!

Last weekend in Barcelona...

So this euro trip is coming to an end, this is the last weekend of Danny in Barcy, he´s going back to LA on the 26 and then he´s thinking about going to Brasil for a couple weeks in the begining of september. The crew will keep in touch and the blog will go on!! Pablo is already back in Brasil working hard check his blog, Winkle will be filming Jani Laitiala in Barcy and maybe in another places around europe, much props for this guy for helping this Blind video... and me, Felipe, i´ll be going to Russia to kick with my friends from Santa Cruz and then i´ll go for a lonely mission in Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Macedonia, Albania, Slovenia and Croacia looking for more brand new spots to hit in the next euro tour!!!

Well that´s it for now, tomorrow Danny is going to skate the banks to ledge spot in Molins de Rey, i´ll try to get some footie for you guys!!!

So we spent the last 2 days skating, monday we woke up late after the Guru concert and end up skating the EMB spot, where Danny filmed a couple more tricks!!! And today we went to Vitoria again to meet our friend TETE and then we end up skating this really nice indoor miniramp at this secret warehouse!!! Just a friendly session!!! 100% fun!

What a sunday!!! We went to this hubba where Danny put a line and a goooood single trick, then we went to this set of stairs and Danny went switch over the rail!!! So after the hammers we came back to the hotel, and got ready for the free GURU JAZZMATAZZ concert at the Bilbao City Festival!!! SOOOOOOO GOOD! He played a lot of gangstarr shit and there was a good vibe going on...

Well tomorrow we have to wake up early and go to the bank cause the machine ate Danny card, and then we are thinking about going to San Sebastian... We´ll see!!

Today we woke and went to meet our friends from here who took us to Vitoria, city of Javier Sarmiento, the city is kind small but it´s amazing!!! A lot of good spots! They took us to this new spot with some curve ledges.... Good vibe at the session, good to see Javi doing some switch flips to switch bs nosebluntslides!!! Tomorrow GURU is playing here for freeeeeee, everyone will come, and maybe we will go back to Vitoria and stay at Javi´s place for the rest of the trip!!
